Formerly known as the Youth Community Council, Performers With Purpose serve their community through choral music. Each season, these young singers (ages 10-18) partner with a local non-profit organization to learn about the group's mission, engage in service projects, and use choral music to raise awareness for the organization. In Season 2022/23, we are partnering with Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area to connect with new Afghan refugees in our region. Students have the opportunity to help run activities and provide music at several events for Afghan families, and they will also be featured on a world premiere at the Chorale’s June concert titled “We Stand Together.”
Members have the opportunity to earn service hours for their work on the Youth Community Council. To learn how to apply for a spot on the Youth Community Council, please e-mail Artistic Director Ingrid Lestrud ingrid@arlingtonchorale.org.
