In March 2020, the Arlington Chorale prepared Ola Gjeilo’s "Song of the Universal" and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass to be performed on March 14th, 2020. Originally named Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times), the title proved to be unfortunately appropriate over two hundred and twenty years after it was written. Two days before the Chorale concert was to take place, concerts in Arlington and around the world were cancelled due to the coronavirus. Two years later, we invite you to experience the Chorale performing these stunning works with orchestra. Filled with dark dramatic moments and soaring beautiful melodies, these choral masterpieces will leave you filled with a sense of optimism and hope!

Our beautiful planet inspires composers and poets to create art that celebrates our connection to the earth. Dan Forrest's arrangement of "i thank you god" and Jake Runestad's "Wild Forces" remind us of the beauty and power found in nature and in ourselves. As our earth becomes threatened by climate change, choral music can draw our attention to this crisis. Saro Lynch-Thomason has written a simple folk song that calls on us to act saying, "With more waters rising....I will wade through the waters. There are more fires burning....I will walk through the fires. There are more mountains falling....I will rebuild the mountains." Join the Chorale for a concert that encourages us all to protect our precious natural resources and preserve the wondrous amazing beauty of the earth.
