Young Leaders In The Community
Designed for youth ages 11-18, the Arlington Chorale's Performers With Purpose (PWP) use choral music to serve their community in unique ways. Each season, these young singers partner with local non-profit organizations to learn about the group's mission, engage in service projects, and use choral music to raise awareness for the organization.
PWP has maintained a meaningful partnership with Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area and participates in several service projects each year at the LSSNCA Welcome Center in Alexandria, assisting LSSNCA staff and helping refugee families, as well as participating in outreach performances.
Throughout the season, students participate in a mix of rehearsals, service projects, outreach performances, and Chorale concerts. These opportunities allow young singers to improve their musical skills, develop leadership qualities, assist local non-profits, and make a positive impact on their community.
Members have the opportunity to earn service hours for their work with Performers With Purpose. To learn how to apply for a space in Performers with Purpose, please e-mail Artistic Director Ingrid Lestrud: ingrid@arlingtonchorale.org.
