Young Leaders In The Community
Designed for youth ages 11-18, the Arlington Chorale's Performers With Purpose (PWP) use choral music to serve their community in unique ways. Each season, these young singers partner with local non-profit organizations to learn about the group's mission, engage in service projects, and use choral music to raise awareness for the organization.
Throughout the season, students participate in a mix of rehearsals, service projects, outreach performances, and Chorale concerts. These opportunities allow young singers to improve their musical skills, develop leadership qualities, assist local non-profits, and make a positive impact on their community. For the 2026-27 season, PWP will participate in community service projects with our season partner EcoAction Arlington and perform at select Arlington community locations, where students will sing both solo and group numbers. The year will culminate with PWP singing with the Chorale on April 24th in Washington, D.C., where they will perform Our Future Four Seasons, a new commission by renowned composer Dominick DiOrio. The Chorale will be taking this piece to Carnegie Hall over Memorial Day Weekend, which is an opportunity that will be open to PWP students as well.
Members have the opportunity to earn service hours for their work with Performers With Purpose. PWP will meet on select Mondays during the year at 6pm at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, with other dates negotiated between members and the director; typically, there are 6 meetings in the fall and 10 in the spring. Tuition for the year is $200, with scholarships available to those whom the tuition would be a barrier to participating. (Please note: the Carnegie Hall tour includes other fees outside of the yearly tuition.)
